Types of Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT is a popular form of therapy that focuses on how thoughts affect feelings and behavior. CBT teaches people to recognize the power of their thoughts and helps them to develop healthy patterns of thinking and behaving. You can practice reframing and replacing negative thoughts with more helpful and positive thoughts. CBT can empower people with practical strategies that they can use every day.
Supportive Therapy
Supportive Therapy gives people support in their lives to cope with stress, identify helpful and unhelpful behaviors, and improve self-esteem.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT Therapy)
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT therapy) is a type of mindful psychotherapy that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It aims to help you move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.
Strength-Based Therapy
Strength-based therapy is a type of positive psychotherapy and counseling that focuses more on your internal strengths and resourcefulness, and less on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. This focus sets up a positive mindset that helps you build on you best qualities, find your strengths, improve resilience and change worldview to one that is more positive. A positive attitude, in turn, can help your expectations of yourself and others become more reasonable.
